William was an enslaved worker at Tuckahoe during the Allen period. He is thought to have been born around 1828 and came to Tuckahoe sometime between 1850-1856. He is listed on the Allen records as a field hand.
After the Civil War, it seems that William Dickson remained at Tuckahoe and worked for pay under the Allen family. The 1870 census shows his name (along with many of the Boyd family) working as a farm laborer.
