Thomas was an enslaved worker who lived and worked at Tuckahoe during the Allen period. He was born sometime around 1855 to Mahala and Spy Boyd. His siblings were Henrietta, Chaney, Armistead, Robert, Matilda, and Margaret.
Thomas lived in the South Cabin which still stands along Plantation Street. After the Civil War, Thomas and his sister, Margaret lived with their parents for a time in the Goochland area. Thomas, like his father, was listed as a farm laborer (likely at Tuckahoe).
