“At this point, we don’t know what happened to William Jones. William had been purchased by Edwin Wight in December of 1843. By, July 1844 he had run away. It’s possible he had been separated from his family and was trying to return to them. Or perhaps Edwin Wight was a crueler owner than his previous one. Whatever his reasons were, it looks like he was still on the run in November. But beyond that, we haven’t found any mention of his name on any records.”
