Nancy was an enslaved worker during the Wight period of Tuckahoe. She would have been born sometime around 1830 and was one of the children mentioned in the will of Hezekiah Wight. She was not freed upon Wight’s death but was to be granted her freedom when she turned 30 years old. True to Wight’s wishes, Nancy was granted her freedom in 1860. As the will is unclear, we do not know whether her mother was Maria or Sally.
