Margaret was an enslaved woman who worked in the fields at Tuckahoe during the Allen period. She is thought to have been born around 1833. She and her children Mildred, Alice, and Caroline were purchased by Mr. Allen on February 1, 1859 for the sum of $1,525. All of their names are listed below George Turner and while it is possible that this was George’s wife and children, the exact connection is uncertain.
It is possible that Margaret had a daughter born at Tuckahoe (account records are unclear as to whose child this was) born on July 21, 1859. The child died just a few months later in September. No name was recorded for her.
