Armistead was an enslaved worker who lived and worked at Tuckahoe during the Allen period. He was born sometime around 1844 to Mahala and Spy Boyd. His siblings were Henrietta, Chaney, Robert, Matilda, Thomas, and Margaret. Armistead worked with his father and several of his siblings in the fields at Tuckahoe. He lived in the South Cabin which still stands along Plantation Street.
In the Allen account of 1858, it was noted that Armistead died in December 1857. The cause of death was not listed. He would have been around 13 years old.
