Jane Griswold Radocchia, an “old house” architect, will be speaking at the Society of Architectural Historians’ Latrobe Chapter Lecture about the use of Practical Geometry in historic architecture. Her lecture, “Practical Geometry: How We Designed and Laid Out Buildings Before Standard Dimensions,” will discuss how historic homes were constructed with basic geometric measurements such as the Rule of Thirds. Radocchia will use one of Tuckahoe Plantation’s slave cabins as an example of the Rule of Thirds.
