The first total solar eclipse in almost 40 years happens this upcoming Monday August 21. While Richmond will only see about 80% of the eclipse, Tuckahoe’s open lawns provide a perfect viewing spot! Our grounds will be open from 1:30-4pm for those who want to picnic, relax, and enjoy the view. Peak moment of the eclipse is at 2:44pm.
Please remember to only use “eclipse glasses” or “solar-viewing glasses” when directly looking at the sun; dark sunglasses don’t count! Or for the DIYers and kids, make your own pinhole eclipse viewer (https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/how-make-pinhole-projector-view-solar-eclipse).
Happy eclipse watching!
